Shauna and I met in a blogging group that we both purchased, and we were all looking for some accountability. We created our own group and we've been friends ever since. I had taken a break from my online journey and Shauna messaged me and told me that she was becoming a coach and asked me if I was interested.

Shauna's Unique Calling Journey

Growing up, Shauna always had dreams that she would do something big. Since she was a small child she wanted to work for herself. She didn't know how that would happen because nobody in her family was an entrepreneur. Everybody had a job that barely paid anything, and that's just how life was. But she wanted more and wanted to be more. She wanted to do more. But when she became an adult, it didn't work out like that. Instead, she had 32 jobs over the years. A lot of people would assume that she was just lazy or she didn't want to work, and that was not the problem. The problem was that she would get bored and wasn't feeling fulfilled in these jobs.

She had jobs that paid a lot of money and jobs that didn't pay a lot of money. She could work a job that didn't pay a lot of money, as long as she was happy there, she would stay there. But the problem would be eventually she was not feeling fulfilled and she would get bored. Then she would leave and find another job.

In her late twenties, Shauna became pregnant with her son. She was so sick with him. It was nothing like when she was pregnant with her daughter. She got put on bed rest, so she couldn't work.

After she had her son, she went to college and struggled with her major. She started out with criminal justice and then switched to business. She graduated with a business degree in management, Then when she had her son, an unexpected turn of events happened. She faced a near-death experience and it should have taken her life. The doctors didn't think that she was going to live through it. And then when she woke up in ICU, they told her that she shouldn't have lived through that.

That sent her into a 7-year-old tailspin of depression, and she asked herself, why did God save her? She didn't know what she was going to do with her life. She had a very checkered past. She was depressed and didn't understand what was going on.

During the next seven years, she worked in insurance, but even though she was getting to help people, there was still something missing there. She left the insurance industry and she dabbled in online business. Fast forward to 2017 she decided that she didn't want to be depressed anymore, and handed it all over to God. She remembers the day that I handed it all over to him and I thought, “Okay, I don't know why you saved me, but I know there's a reason and I'm just going to not be depressed anymore. I'm just going to move forward.”

She found a job that she liked. She thought she was going to retire from this job, but in 2019, she was told that there was going to be a massive layoff nationwide. She stayed until February 2020, a month before the pandemic hit the states. As we all know, when the pandemic hit, nobody was hiring. You couldn't go anywhere. It was a mess. Also, during that time, I had gotten a big chunk of money from the company because we got a retention bonus and a severance pay.

She planned on buying the business that her husband works for. Her husband and she were going to buy it and run this business together. They applied for the loan. They had the down payment. They had the right credit score. They had everything. But they got turned down. Obviously, God did not want them to buy this business. She didn’t know what was going on.

She decided that she had to find her calling because nobody was hiring. She decided to take advantage of the time off. She started taking tests and assessments and quizzes and reading books.

Everything led back to coaching. She thought there was a mistake and fought it so hard, but it kept coming back to coaching. Finally, she stepped into it and got certified through Life Breakthrough Academy in January 2021, but she didn't do anything with it.

She is an introvert. I didn't know where to find clients. Instead, she got another job that she liked. She was good at that job. It was a sales job, made really good money, but they wouldn't let her do the sales the way she wanted to do the sales.

She was the top salesperson for the first two months she was there. But because they wouldn't let me do sales the way she wanted to do it. It was challenging her integrity. After about seven months, she left that job and then a couple of months went by and she missed the money. So she went back and unexpectedly, they let her go two weeks later.

Instead of going back to coaching, she took a job that she hated. It was a warehouse job. She was grateful for the job because it was a paycheck. And the whole time she was there, she just kept thinking, “Okay, I'm going to get this coaching business going.” She started telling people at work, “I'm a coach. I'm not going to be here very long.” She was building her confidence while she was there. And then unfortunately she got carpal tunnel. And she used it as an excuse to leave and finally start her coaching business.

The Journey to Coaching

In September of 2022, she started her coaching business, which led to her becoming a coach trainer and then a motivational speaker. When she took the first step she felt like God was asking her to do it, and then He just kept opening more doors after that.

When she first started coaching, she didn't know who she coached so she just started coaching. She found along the way that she struggled with most was her calling after that near-death experience. That was her furnace story, those seven years. And then she realized through all this that her niche is to help other people find their calling, to find what God is calling them to do. But she wouldn't ever have found that if she hadn’t kept moving forward.

How the Unique Calling Mentorship Works

Shauna has founded the Unique Calling Mentorship. She has brought together five coaches from different niches with different experiences who work together to lead coaching calls every week. Members have a variety of coaches to choose from to help them with whatever they need coaching for.

For example, Shauna brings someone in that is looking for their calling. She helps them find their calling, and that calling might involve working from home. Well, they could jump on a coaching call with me to move on to that next step. We provide different coaching for each step in their journey.

Instead of working with one coach and paying thousands of dollars to where that coach only helps them with something specific, and then they want to start a podcast or they want to create a work-from-home business or they're going to have to go hire another coach that's another who knows how much money, hundreds or even thousands of dollars or even buy a course.

Many people purchase courses and then we get stuck and we never follow through. It's because nobody is there to help us when we get stuck. Then if you do need to help, you have to pay extra money.

The Unique Calling Mentorship is different. For a monthly membership price, it covers all of this from laser coaching to the training courses and the workshops that we are uploading in the back office. If someone goes through something and they get stuck. They can pop into our private Facebook group, tag one of us, and we can coach them right there, or they can jump on one of our calls and get coached. So it is taking them on their journey from the start, even past the finish, because even once you reach your destination, obstacles still rise and we're going to be there to help.

The mentorship is not just for people who want to have a business, it's for the everyday Christian because as someone comes in through Shauna, they're coming in because they want help with their calling, and their calling could be going into the office. It could be asking for a promotion at work. It could be anything, but if it is starting a business working from home, they have me as a coach. The Unique Calling Mentorship is affordable for everybody because when Shauna started this journey, her one heartfelt concern was to make it affordable. She used to be a single mom. That is her calling, is to inspire, encourage and motivate other Christians to step out and embrace their calling no matter what that is.

How to Find Your Unique Calling

Finally, Shauna shared that your calling is based on five core components.

  1. Your top two spiritual gifts
  2. Your top two love languages
  3. Your passion-driven pursuits, which is something you either love to do, something you've always wanted to do, something you enjoy doing.
  4. Your aspirational goals
  5. Your heartfelt concern
