Doing Hard Things: 5 Tips to Keep Going as a Christian WFH Mom
Choose Your Hard
No matter what we choose to do in life, it is not going to be easy. In recent years, we have all heard the saying, choose your hard. Let’s use motherhood as an example. Unless you have a spouse who makes a lot of money, you may have to contribute to your family’s finances. You have choices.
1. You can go and get a traditional job and put your children in daycare and or school. That’s hard
2. You can find work from home and keep your children at home with you. Also hard, trying to juggle work and mothering
3. You can not work and try to save money in every way possible. Also hard. I have been there.
You must choose your hard. As Christian moms, we need to pray and choose the Bible way
But the Bible certainly doesn’t promise an easy way.
Sometimes, I listen to a well-known coach’s podcast. She believes that life is 50/50. 50% good and 50% bad. The jury is still out for me about whether that is the truth. I cannot find that exact formula in the Bible.
What Does the Bible Say?
You could argue either way: The Bible says, in Matthew 5:45 that it rains on the just and the unjust. Just read through the book of Psalms where David pours out his heart to God both in lamentations and in praise. Look at Job, he certainly suffered more than most, yet what did Job say?
Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
It isn’t so much about good and bad things happening, it is about our response. It is about trusting God, it is about praising Him in good times and bad times. It is realizing that, as Christians, nothing comes to us, without passing through His hands first.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
All this to say, when you are struggling, when you are facing challenges, when bad things happen, pray to God, read your Bible, Read Job, and Read Psalms.
Ask yourself, am I trusting God?
Are the things that are happening a result of my actions?
Whether you are facing a challenge in your business or any area of your life.
5 Tips to Help You Do Hard Things.
1. Pray about it:
When challenges arise, one of the most powerful tools in your arsenal as a Christian WFH mom is prayer. Take time to pray about the situation, seeking guidance, clarity, and strength from a higher power. Prayer can provide a sense of peace and perspective, helping you to navigate difficult circumstances with grace and confidence. By entrusting your challenges to God through prayer, you can tap into a source of divine wisdom and support that empowers you to face adversity head-on.
2. Remember your Why:
During challenges, it's easy to lose sight of why you embarked on your Work-from-home journey in the first place. Take a moment to reconnect with your why – the deep-seated purpose and passion that drives you forward. Whether it's providing for your family, pursuing your passions, or making a difference in the world, remembering your why can reignite your motivation and determination to keep going, even when the going gets tough. Keep your why front and center in your mind and let it fuel your perseverance in the face of adversity.
3. Talk to someone, hire a coach:
When faced with challenges, it can be incredibly helpful to seek support and guidance from others. Consider reaching out to a trusted friend, mentor, or coach who can offer a fresh perspective, wisdom, and encouragement. A coach, in particular, can provide tailored guidance and accountability to help you navigate challenges more effectively and achieve your goals. Don't be afraid to lean on your support network and enlist the help of others as you work through difficult times. Remember, you don't have to go it alone.
4. Systematize:
In the midst of chaos, establishing systems and routines can provide much-needed structure and stability to your Work from Home life. Take the time to identify areas of your business and personal life that could benefit from systematization, such as task management, time blocking, and organization. By implementing efficient systems and processes, you can streamline your workflow, reduce stress, and increase productivity. Whether it's creating a daily schedule, automating repetitive tasks, or delegating responsibilities, find ways to systematize your work and life to better cope with challenges and stay on track.
5. Stay Consistent, Keep Going and Celebrate Small Victories:
Persistence is key when it comes to overcoming challenges as a Christian WFH mom. Stay committed to your goals and keep pushing forward, even when the going gets tough. Remember that progress is often slow and incremental, so celebrate small victories along the way to stay motivated and encouraged. Whether it's completing a challenging project, reaching a milestone, or simply showing up and doing the work each day, acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small. By staying consistent and persevering in the face of adversity, you can overcome obstacles and continue moving forward on your Work from Home journey.
In conclusion, as a Christian WFH mom, you have the resilience, strength, and support you need to overcome challenges and keep going. By praying about it, remembering your why, seeking support, systematizing your work and life, and staying consistent, you can tackle even the toughest obstacles with confidence and grace. Remember that challenges are simply opportunities for growth and learning, and with the right mindset and approach, you can emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before. So keep pushing forward, stay faithful to your journey, and remember that you can do hard things.
