Proverbs 3 uncovers three specific treasures. You can look for these treasures, not only in this chapter but throughout the entire Book of Proverbs. By the end of this exploration, you'll have a deeper understanding of how these treasures apply to your life as a Christian work-from-home mom and how they can be shared with your children.

Let's dive deep into biblical wisdom and uncover valuable treasures from the Book of Proverbs so that can enrich your life, your faith, and your work-from-home journey. Today, we’re focusing on Proverbs 3 and exploring three key lessons that will guide and inspire you. As you read, think of yourself as a treasure hunter, seeking out hidden gems that can transform the way you live and work.

1. “My Son” Statements

The first treasure we find in Proverbs 3 are the heartfelt, fatherly instructions often addressed with the words "My son." These verses remind us that God’s wisdom is personal and intimate, like advice from a loving parent. Here are three examples from Proverbs 3:

Proverbs 3:1 – "My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments."
Proverbs 3:11 – "My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction."
Proverbs 3:21 – "My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion."

These verses serve as personal letters from God to us, offering guidance, correction, and encouragement. They remind us to hold tightly to His wisdom, not only for ourselves but also for teaching our children. Make it a fun activity—read these verses together, and talk about what they mean in your daily life.

2. Wisdom

Wisdom is the central theme of Proverbs, and Proverbs 3 is no exception. Here are some verses that highlight the importance of seeking and embracing wisdom:

Proverbs 3:13 – "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding."
Proverbs 3:19 – "The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens."
Proverbs 3:21 – "My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion."

In these verses, we learn that wisdom not only brings joy but also provides the foundation for our lives. Applying these truths can help us make better decisions in parenting, business, and beyond. Take time to reflect on how you can seek wisdom in your day-to-day tasks and decisions.

3. Fear of the Lord

The third treasure is about reverence for God, or the "fear of the Lord." This phrase appears throughout Proverbs and is key to living a life that pleases God. One key verse in Proverbs 3 says:

Proverbs 3:7 – "Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil."

Fearing the Lord means trusting Him above our own understanding. When we acknowledge God in everything we do, He promises to guide our paths. This is a powerful truth, especially for those of us balancing work, family, and faith.

Proverbs 3:5-6

We can’t talk about Proverbs 3 without highlighting one of the most well-known passages:

Proverbs 3:5-6 – "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

This verse is a cornerstone of faith, reminding us to trust God completely, whether we’re navigating personal challenges or growing a business. By surrendering to His guidance, we can move forward with confidence.

Practical Application

As an example, think about Proverbs 3:13: "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." How can you encourage your children to seek wisdom in their everyday lives? This could be through Bible study, learning from trusted adults, or even reflecting on their experiences. Discuss together how wisdom and understanding bring joy and fulfillment.
