The Armor of God Scripture Writing Challenge

The Armor of God Scripture Writing Challenge

Apr 29, 2025

Spring is a season of new growth—and not just for gardens.
It’s a season for spiritual growth too.
If you’re anything like me, you know what it’s like to feel spiritually weary.
You’re doing all the right things—praying, showing up, trusting God—and still, you feel the weight of the battle.
I want to encourage you today: you don’t have to build spiritual strength overnight.
You don’t have to face the battle unprepared.
God has given you armor—strong, powerful armor—but it’s built one faithful step at a time.

The Armor of God: Battle Preparation Begins Today

In Ephesians 6, Paul outlines seven pieces of armor that God provides to His children:

  • The Belt of Truth
  • The Breastplate of Righteousness
  • The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
  • The Shield of Faith
  • The Helmet of Salvation
  • The Sword of the Spirit
  • Prayer

Each piece is vital if we are going to stand against the enemy of our souls.
But here’s the truth: you don’t wait until you’re under attack to put on your armor.
You build it in the quiet days—the ordinary days—the days that feel slow and small.
Just like planting seeds in spring, there’s preparation before the harvest.
There’s faithfulness before the fruit.

Strength Is Built Daily, Not in Crisis

Recently, I was reminded of this in a personal way.
I went through a season of intense spiritual warfare.
The battle was mostly in my mind: doubt, discouragement, fear.
And yet, I wasn’t crushed.
Why?
Because for years, I had been building my armor through Scripture writing, prayer, church attendance, and daily obedience.
Not perfectly.
But faithfully.
The Word I had hidden in my heart became my shield.
The prayers I had sown became my lifeline.
The trust I had built in quiet seasons became my battle cry.
Friend, your quiet faithfulness matters.
It’s not wasted.
God is using it to prepare you for victories you cannot yet see.

How to Start Building (or Strengthening) Your Armor

This month inside the Christian Work-from-Home Mom community, we’re focusing on building the Armor of God through Scripture writing.
Each day in May, we’re writing one verse that strengthens one piece of the armor:

  • Ephesians 6 prepares us for battle
  • Psalm 27 reminds us that God is our light, our salvation, and our strength
  • Key battle verses sharpen our Sword of the Spirit

We’re also practicing devotional habit stacking:

  • Write one Scripture verse each day
  • Pray over it
  • Read a short Bible passage
  • Write a short summary of your day

Writing a summary of your day might seem small, but it’s a powerful gift to your future self.
One day, you’ll look back and see God’s hand in every high and low.

Today’s Reminder

You are not behind.
You are not forgotten.
You are being equipped.
The Armor of God is available to you—but it’s built through small, daily choices to stay close to the Father.

Don’t rush the process.

Don’t despise the small beginnings.

Stay faithful, and God will bring the victory.
