You're Not Behind - Restart with Grace

May 22, 2025

After a busy season or time away, it’s easy to feel like you’re behind. Whether it’s a vacation, an unexpected break, or simply life being life, the pressure to catch up can feel heavy. In this week’s blog post, I want to encourage you that it’s okay to start again, without guilt.

I recently returned from a powerful trip to Israel and celebrated my oldest son’s high school graduation. It was emotional and meaningful and left my routine completely disrupted. Maybe you’ve been there too—coming back with a full heart, but a full inbox and to-do list, too.
Instead of striving to do it all, I’ve learned to start small. One habit. One prayer. One verse. And today I want to share three simple ways you can restart after a break, with grace and focus.

1. Reset Your Rhythm with One Simple Habit

Don’t try to do everything on Day 1. Just return to the habit that grounds you in the Lord. For me, it’s my Bible Devotion Habit Stack: writing one verse, reading Scripture, listing gratitude, prayer requests, and daily goals. You don’t have to check every box perfectly. Just show up.

“Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.” – Proverbs 16:8

What’s one habit that can gently re-anchor your day in God’s Word?

2. Prioritize What Actually Matters

Not every task needs to be caught up. Ask the Lord what truly matters today. Maybe it’s laundry and Bible time with your children. Maybe it’s rest. Let go of the noise and tend to what truly builds your faith and family.

“In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.” – Isaiah 30:15

Give yourself permission to move slowly and intentionally.

3. Invite God Into the Restart

This is not something you need to do alone. When you feel overwhelmed, take a moment to ask: “Lord, where do You want me to start today?”
I did this myself when I returned from my trip. Instead of diving headfirst into the chaos, I took a prayer walk. I laid my to-do list before the Lord and asked Him for clarity—and He gently led me back to what mattered most.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5

Friend, God doesn’t expect perfection. He simply asks you to come to Him—right where you are.

The Takeaway

You are not behind. You are not failing. You are growing.
It’s okay to begin again—with peace, with purpose, and with grace.
Let this be your invitation to start fresh, not with hustle, but with holy intention.
