God's Perfect Timing - Encouragement for When You Feel Behind
Struggling to feel like you’re on track? This post offers heartfelt encouragement for Christian work-from-home moms who feel behind. Through a personal story and biblical truth, you'll be reminded that God’s timing is perfect, even when your progress feels slow.
Recently, I took a big step in my business. If you’ve been listening to this podcast, you know I have a cleaning business on the side. For the past four years, it’s been my main source of income while I build my coaching business. And for those four years, I did all the work, mostly by myself.
But a couple of months ago, I finally hired two team members. They now do almost all the cleaning, while I focus on working on the business instead of in it. I can’t tell you how freeing that has been.
I had been running myself ragged, trying to do it all. I was scared to hire anyone because I believed the lie that no one would care as much as I do or do as good a job as me. But guess what? My team is amazing. They care deeply, they do excellent work, and honestly—they’re much sweeter than I am! My clients love them.
Now the business is growing. I have time to handle the finances, marketing, and customer service. I'm even thinking about expanding and hiring more. Do I regret waiting so long? Absolutely. But I’m choosing to trust God’s timing. Maybe there were lessons I needed to learn first. I now have so much appreciation for my team because I understand firsthand how hard the work is and how valuable good employees are.
And in all of this, I’m reminded of the tortoise and the hare. The tortoise wasn’t fast, but he was faithful—and he reached the finish line. That’s a picture of us when we trust God’s timing.
When You Feel Behind
Last week on the podcast, we talked about what to do when you return from a break and need a reset:
- Reset your rhythm with one simple habit
- Prioritize what actually matters
- Invite God into the restart
But what if you're doing all the right things—you’re trying to earn money from home—and nothing seems to be working?
That’s when I remind myself of the story of the tortoise and the hare. I know what it feels like to want everything to happen now. But God is not in a hurry. He is not behind. And if we’re following Him, neither are we.
You will look back and see His faithfulness. He cares for the sparrows—and He will take care of you.
Encouraging Scriptures:
- Matthew 6:26 – "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"
- Psalm 37:25 – "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
A Habit Stack to Stay Grounded
Here’s the habit stack I’ve been sharing and using daily:
- Write a verse of Scripture.
- Read a chapter of Scripture. (I outline and take notes to stay engaged and avoid skimming.)
- Write five things I’m thankful for.
- Write five prayer requests.
And now we’re adding a new habit: Plan your day with God.
This isn’t a to-do list—it’s a mindset and method for staying focused on what matters most. Here’s how I use the WIN Method, shared by my friend Johnny Ortiz:
W – Write the Win: Choose one income-producing activity to move your work-from-home journey forward. Examples: message a lead, follow up with a client, send your resume.
I – Interrupt the Negative Thinking: Romans 12:2 – "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." Remind yourself of the truth when doubt creeps in.
N – Name Your Next Step: Write down that one action you’ll take today.
